A recent letter I receive from a friend sitting on death row :o( told me they just finished reading it and to give it a try. So I did.
The book is about Denny's amazing dog Enzo that is convinced that he will be reincarnated as a human after he dies. He feels once his soul learns everything it was meant to be taught in this life, he will know when it is time to go. Enzo helps Denny through many hardships and devastating tragedy, through some strong unspoken force. Able to give encouragement to Denny even in the lowest of moments, when he feels it is just time to give up. It is a very valuable story full of love, tragedy, redemption, truths and the positive ways to deal with life it the highest or lowest times. Teaches also to accept personal responsibility and remain open that some answer might come from stranger or unexpected places. The dog has much to teach us about being a human.
I'm not going to lie to you, this book is very sad. But it is also laugh out loud funny at times, and filled with love, devotion, philosophy and hopefulness. It had me from smiling and laughing to me sobbing.
It's a beautiful book and definitely one of my favorites of the year so far.
I definitely recommend it. A heart- warming story that anyone would enjoy- even if you are not a dog lover! Like myself :o)
